UCLA Samueli to Join Applied Materials’ EPIC Center to Accelerate Chip Innovation

UCLA Samueli will join Applied Materials’ new EPIC Center in Sunnyvale as a research collaborator. The center opens October 12. UCLA researchers, including those in the CHIPS Lab, will get access to advanced chipmaking tools to test ideas in a commercial fab. The work will focus on 3D chip scaling, advanced packaging and energy-efficient AI materials. The partnership builds on UCLA’s $125M Semiconductor Hub, where Applied Materials is a co-founding member.
